Tom Freyberg, connecting the energy-water-food-nexus through creative storytelling.
Over 17 years, Tom Freyberg has crafted a reputation as the go-to content specialist for sustainability and the water-energy-food nexus. A sought-after speaker, event moderator, content marketing guru and podcast host, he has been telling the incredible stories of emerging technologies and the people behind them.
A highly experienced communicator, Tom combines traditional content marketing strategies with ground-breaking ideas that tap into the global zeitgeist to deliver content that provokes, inspires and engages.
After working at PennWell for 8.5 years, reaching chief editor level and heading up the international water division, he witnessed first-hand the urgent need to connect the innovators to the challenges.
He saw how siloed and disconnected the water sector had become and the need for an innovative organisation to unite people, from utilities and big corporations to start-ups and investors.
Personally, Tom was drawn to the sea, settling in the coastal town of Worthing, West Sussex. Sandwiched between the ocean and the South Downs national park, it became the perfect home to raise a young family.
Today the boutique agency and its tribe of creatives work with companies such as Aquatech Global Events, Veolia, KWR Water Research Institute, SIWI and start-ups such as FIDO Tech, Qatium and Aquacycl. Tom has consulted, crafted and implemented innovative strategies, producing creative content that makes an impact.
An accomplished speaker and moderator, Tom has moderated and hosted multiple event sessions, from Aquatech’s Innovation Forum and legendary F**K Up Nights, to the SWAN Forum and World Water Week in Stockholm. Marrying a journalistic instinct with humour, he strikes the balance to communicate complex issues to a wide audience.
In 2019, Tom partnered with friend, colleague and world-renowned water corporate strategist, Will Sarni, Founder and CEO of Water Foundry, to create the water sector’s favourite podcast, The Stream with Will & Tom. Together, Tom and Will shine a light on the disruptors and thought leaders who reject the status quo with a bias for action in the water sector and beyond. With a warning label, The Stream highlights emerging solutions and the leaders behind them, debating complex water issues. It even includes a onetime in-depth analysis on the correct techniques when it comes to a traditional South African braai (BBQ).
